The Apprentice (Season 3, Episode 1)
Tuesday, February 1, 2005

I haven't been following the apprentice very much. I could have learnt SO MUCH from the marketing strategy and leadership, but as most people know, I am not a TV person so I do not have much time to watch it. I have found other ways of viewing it though. ;)

This season, with the book vs. street smart, I take the opportunity to learn from both sides.

Ep1

The marketing campaign of Danny was a disaster. However, how DO you handle a loose canon like Danny? I have often wondered that. If I was Donald, I could have fired him on the spot. Then again, he does have his good side. As we can see, he rebounded to instigate the party that would be instrumental to Magna's success in episode 2.

What one of the candidates mentioned, was that Todd should have had a plan B. I think that is very important as a leader. If one of the people you delegate to is not doing the best job, you need to reassign someone else to the job, of have a plan for a takeover if necessary.

Todd also should have trained himself in all aspects of the job, time permitting. As a leader, he should be able to handle all positions as he will be the most flexible to take care of any position that needs slack picked up. The POS was an area that required him.

Freebie from George: POS is the most important position. At least from that business.

On Net Worth's side, John is an amazing leader. He inspires the team and most of the tasks were delegated as a team. His team was always seen together, and many of the tasks were planned out as a group. In episode two, he says "A happy team is a good team". Very true.
