Yes, it really does! Today, I had no explosion, blinked when I went in or when I was attacked, had no confidence and my combos were autonomic, but senseless, I couldn't feel the next flowing technique after the 1st one. I couldn't feel the connection between my mind, body and spirit.
Sigh, some days, I can fight w/ the best of them, some days, I'm not even sure if I've really taken martial arts for over 10 years!
Well, on the bright side, we took the class and we did lotsa 2 men drills. Learning to feel kicks, punches and learning to position them too!
Those drills help though. As I was fighting Alex S., I was thinking of the block drills that I was doing with Kev on Monday. They were pretty good, but my body motion was slow. Strategecally though, I managed to jam a quite a few of Alex's kicks, so I am glad the kick drills work.
However, because my body was slow, I could not attack very well. Actually, that just about summed up my fighting with Alex today. None of us really blocked.
We kinda just attacked and counter attacked, trying to out speed each other or out reach each other, but no one really blocked. Just felt very sluggish today. Didn't even go to the gym to pump.
I think the next thing I have to work on is body motion and flow with the opponent's energy.
