Officer Stephen Chapman of the Peel Regional Traffic Unit inspects a truck for possible safety infractions at the International Centre this Friday.
The infractions range from bald tires and rusted frames all the way to fluid and fuel leaks.
Officers patrolled the area around Airport and Dixie Roads and escorted vehicles that looked unsafe into the North West corner of the International Centre Parking lot to be inspected. Inspections take anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes for a small vehicle to an hour for a large truck.
If an infraction is found, the vehicle will be set aside. Operators will be given an opportunity to fix minor infractions while the licence plates will be removed and the vehicle towed for larger infractions.
Imagine meeting a real life wolverine! While this is not a human mutant we are talking about, this frog actually can produce it’s own claws that puncture through it’s own skin!
Trichobatrachus robustus actively breaks its own bones to produce claws that puncture their way out of the frog’s toe pads, probably when it is threatened.
Imagine if we could all break out bones and create claws for hand to hand combat. I think that would be super cool!
If you think having broken bones and punctured skin would be a problem after the fight, your fears are highly unwarranted. At least, not in the the near future. Enter “pixie dust”, a power that could help us follow the path of our ancient salamander relatives.
“If it is next to the skin, it will start making skin. If it’s next to a tendon, it will start making a tendon, and so that’s the hope, at least in this particular project, that we can grow a finger,” Dr. Steven Wolf told CNN.
James Bond would have done well to have that powder in his arsenal. I am unsure if Q only provided him with mechanical equipment or if bio weapons were a part of his package. In any case, you’d be supprised to learn than some of the equipment used on James Bond really exists and is in use today.
Despite the Bond method of spraying the enemy with lead to suppress the bad guys, high lead content in children actually could lead to more trouble with the law.
After controlling for factors including maternal IQ, maternal arrest rates, parenting style and socioeconomic factors, they found that prenatal and childhood lead concentrations in the blood predicted likelihood of adult arrest.
And don’t eat lead … or just don’t eat at all. Eating less will prolong your life … unless you starve to death.
I saw this video from the DefenseTech website. Oh how I love military technology. Looking at this plane’s control surfaces move is like watching a scene from a movie like Terminator.
What are rules meant to do? Are they meant to protect the innocent, control a process, a combination of both? Do rules always have to be in black and white?
When the Lorne Park Spartans varsity girls rugby team won their game fair and square 26-0, but tended to an injured player before they called in their scores, they found out that they were disqualified and kicked out of the ROPSSA playoffs.
The reason? Their game was done at 5:50pm and their scores were due at 7:00pm. The call was made between 7:30pm and 8:00pm.
Is the technicality of late score reporting worth the tears, sweat and blood of a hard earned victory?
The handing in of a score 1 hour late doesn’t infringe on the rights of the other teams. It doesn’t enhance or hurt the performance of the competitors.
Yet, one could argue that … a rule is a rule … and this rule for calling in the scores was broken. I suppose being relaxed on a rule like calling in scores could create havoc for a league that has a lot of administrative work and it is kinda hard to do that work “at random times”.
These girls just want to play. For the love of the game, for scholarships, for all the effort they put in training during the season. In a regular season, ending up with one less W and one more L is already a tough situation to swallow. Being eliminated from the playoffs, despite winning fair and square is an even tougher position to be in.
What do you think about this?
Buddhism has it’s Shaolin kung fu. Taoism has it’s Wudang school of martial arts. Sikhs have their Gatka. Christians … have boxing.
Apparently this school teaches boxing as a way to strenghten their faith. The topic of religious combatives always intrigues me.
Happy Victoria Day! Some residents in Mississauga went out to Clover Meadows Park to light up the sky! Ok, my lens is really … really … in need of cleaning. :P
I always thought robosapiens were pretty cool, but this … this is robosapien meets Ironman!
Funny
First, we have the story of the thief that almost slept with the guy’s wife. That’s pretty daring of the thief!
The 36-year-old housewife was asleep when the thief, noticing that her husband was fast asleep on the couch, quietly stripped off and lay down beside her
Then, we have Mr. Gokhan Mutlu who joined the mile high club … in a different way.
90 minutes into the flight, the pilot told Mutlu the flight attendant was uncomfortable and he would have to give up his seat and “hang out” in the bathroom for the remainder of the flight
Sad
How would you react if you knew you had to lose an arm or a leg to survive, especially when you were already full of hope that you’d live because people found you alive?
Rescuers had deemed it too dangerous to move the concrete to free her legs.
“They decided that they can’t move any of the rubble from on top of her, because it might bring more down on her,” said Wang Jue, a Chinese journalist.
Rocking Take 3

This is my second attempt at playing the guitar. Actually, kinda my third. I started off a while back with a cheap classical guitar from Toys’R'Us that had it’s neck snapped under tension from the strings.
I then decided to get an acoustic, but my chunky arms and inflexible sholders made it really uncomfortable to play. Today, I made one last attempt into the guitar world. I got an electric.
Apparently, my cousins who are 1/2 way around the world all play the guitar or drums and are in bands, both on my dad’s side and my mom’s side. I’m pretty excited. Anyone want to give me some pointers on how to play? :)
Talking to a friend last night about the world was pretty cool. She’s one of the traveller people. Actually, I’m supprised I haven’t yet jumped on the boat to sail the seven seas as quite a few of my friends do the frequent travel deal. I like how they see the world in the big picture.
I like my life the way I see it unfolding in the next little while … when I’m not working, I’m either gym, training or guitaring. Add some spontaneous hanging out w/ people and it’ll be perfect.
