Little Grumps
This little lizard is a friend’s roommate’s pet. He was sun tanning under the lamp in his enclosure and I couldn’t resist taking a whole bunch of pictures of him.
Brushing your teeth in designer style
I could not help but wonder what goes into the art and science of designing a toothbrush as I stroked the bristles across my enamel this morning.
What was essentially a bunch of bristles at the end of the stick, now became a high tech tooth cleaning device with no less than four different parts. Four that is, if you are not counting the flexible shaft and the raised dots at the rear of the toothbrush.
Beefing up at Master Steaks
While it’s not quite Canyon Creek, Master Steaks at Dixie and 401 in Mississauga is the quick fix for the read meat lover.
Port Credit Photo Shooting
I love Port Credit for many reason. The waterfront, the liveliness and also for the great number of locations to take pictures.
The lighthouse, boardwalk, benches, gazebo, and now even graffiti, all make for great shooting locations.
Peering into my stomach
If you peered into my stomach, this would be the sight you’d currently see! Nong Shim Honey Twists! I got them for $0.66 a pack at Walmart last night. I ate about 1/2 the package before taking a picture.
Open Mic @ Marcello’s
Last week, I spoke of community building by having more live music venues in Mississauga. This week, while being Kristen’s groupie, I found the open mic night at Marcello’s. Read more »
Niagara Icewine Festival
It was the sweetest getaway of the month as 20 of Zeekid’s friends converged upon the Niagara region to celebrate some of the finest icewines Ontario had to offer.
Destination Niagara Ice Wine Festival
Checking out the Niagara Icewine Festival this weekend with Zeekid and company. It should be a fun trip! Looking forward to great tasting food, drinking and cottage fun.
Live Jazz @ Coffee Culture in Mississauga
Live music, coffee, old friends, new friends, that’s the good life. Kristen Au’s jazz performances at Coffee Culture, at Creditview and Eglington in Mississauga, allow for this community building to happen.
Mini Eggs
It’s been a long time since I have had Cadbury’s mini eggs. A long staple of the Easter season, I couldn’t help but be tempted by Walmart’s supposed special offer and picked up a bag. Do they onl come in two colours now or has it been that long since I last had them that I did not remember what colours they come in?
I can’t go to Walmart hungry or thirsty. Four bottles of pop and two bags of candy later … it might be my last trip there! At least I got milk the last time! :P
Your media image
This is a video of four Canadian Press photographers and their work. Their work puts life into newspapers. It helps you relate to the subject of the story.
Return to blogging
I have had a blog for the better part of the last decade, migrating from a self developed blogging platform to WordPress. The major advantage WordPress had over my self developed blog was the Akismet spam blocker. I think a milestone of a succcessful blog is to be the target of spammers.
Lately, I have not been blogging as much, with many posts sitting in my drafts folder and probably twice as many tossed out.
When I started journalism, I tried to make my blog about news and less about my personal thoughts.
I hardly post a blog without an accompanying picture and I loath posting pictures that were not taken by my own hand. I do not want my blog littered by images not originally seen with my own eyes.
I also toss out the topics when they become more than one or two days old. As a journalist, staying current is something that has been ingrained in me.
But I hear my poor neglected blog call to me and asks me to tell it a story. My story.
There has to be a difference between a personal blog and a news blog. I think my blog will return to containing words. Words which describe situations. Words which leave to your imagination the imagery that will take the place of pictures.
I shall endevour to post at least every other day or so.
LCS is Beautiful!
I would like to say that this ship, LCS Independence, is a thing of beauty! It looks like it came out of some futuristic video game.
So war machines don’t do things that you consider beautiful, but they look so futuristic and powerful and perform with such grace. I’m captivated by them.
