T-15 days! Asia here I come!
While I’ve been on a plane and have traveled to a number of places in the past few years, this trips gets me giddier than a 10-year-old girl over Justin Bieber because it is the first time I am leaving the continent.
More so than being excited about exploring a new content, I am looking forward to hanging out with my relatives. Since I was last in Asia, I lost two grandmothers and a grandfather. Caught in the cyclonic forces of work, school and finances, I could not break free to find time to visit relatives on the other side of the planet. My aunt who is getting on in years recently fell and broke her leg. I’m glad the fall didn’t result in anything worse than a fracture.
How I, and most of the world, would love to see the real life invention of the StarTrek like transporter. It would mean being able to visit people and keep in touch a lot easier.
I have often wondered what I would tell people in the east about Canada.
This great country is vast and culturally different between provinces. From Halifax to Montreal to Toronto, the way of life differs to the point that while I loved the welcoming “small town” friendliness of Halifax, there was a billboard ad running with the slogan “Colder than the people in Toronto”.
Yet, the only real places I’ve spent more than a couple of days in are Halifax, Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. If I really wanted to stretch it, Hamilton, Burlington, Milton, Oakville, Waterloo, Belleville and Mississauga can be added to the list. I feel like I am traveling off this continent before I really got to explore it.
At the very least, I have seen the two coasts of this country, from Vancouver, British Columbia to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. When I come back, I’ll definitely be looking at trips up North!
Speaking of Nova Scotia, I’m getting back into the swing of shooting some creative modeling with Liz. She is one of the first few people I started shooting and is quite creative with poses. I’m looking forward to working more on that creative portfolio with her. It’s nice to give journalism a break.
Wait. Let me rephrase that. I love journalism and I would hop on the chance to shoot a story. However, I needed a break from a certain work place and it is refreshing to shoot some good creative art.
