Prawning at Bishan!

This is one of the coolest things I’ve done. I’m sure everyone’s been fishing, but prawning is a pretty cool activity!

Instead of having a rod and a reel trying to hook fish, you have a line on the end of a rod trying to catch prawns! We have shrimp in Canada but rarely see prawns. These things are huge! Like I’d almost think of them as a mini lobster!

It was a little scary at first, trying to avoid the pincers of the prawn as we removed the hook from the not-so-little bugger. However, with a little bit of help from some of the locals, we learned to remove the pincers before attempting to remove the hooks. Still, they are pretty resilient little creatures waving their menacing little pincers around!

In the end, Anna, Raphael and I caught about 2kg worth of prawn. I swear we were much more successful than most of the people there. We were hauling them in while we rarely saw others pull them out!
