Sungai Tiang (Malaysia)
My uncle took us to Sungai Tiang the past week. Sungai Tiang is a fishing village, where people live in houses that were half brick, yet with flooring that was made of planks.
At the back, you could catch one of their fishing boats unloading their haul of the day.

Fishermen unload their haul of the day at Sungai Tiang, a fishing village on the west coast of Malaysia.
When we got there, they were just unloading their catch of the day: shrimp from the sea.

A sea of shrimp is being dried out for future use at Sungai Tiang, a fishing village on the west coast of Malaysia.
This shrimp would then be used to create belacan, a kind of shrimp based chilli that is quite unique to South East Asian food, amongst other things.
Sungai Tiang is also the birth place of my dad. My grandfather used to own a fishing fleet. It was interesting to learn a piece of history and where my ancestors had been!
And a few more interesting pictures:
This girl was really natural in front of the camera. She was only three years old, but when we pointed the camera at her, she came up with all these model poses on her own! She was also poseable like a doll. We’d tell her to rest her arms on the fence and she’d comply, then come up with her own creative poses!
