Movie Review: Inception
From all the comments I’ve read about Inception, I expected it to be a mind-twister like Shutter Island, Leonardo Di Caprio’s other recent blockbuster.I thought the plot would tingle my mind with lots of twists. Instead, if one can grasp how a stack operates, then the stacked dreams with relative timelines aren’t exactly too hard to grasp. The plot was pretty straight forward.
Still, for what it’s worth, it was a good action movie, although many of the scenes were reminiscent of The Matrix.
I do not agree with the elevator trick. If a sense of falling was all that was needed, then he could’ve just stacked them up and shoved them quickly to cause the acceleration that would trick the inner ear into thinking they were falling.
Also putting C4 on the elevator wouldn’t rocket it forward. It would just blow apart the elevator. Acceleration is caused by the compression of gasses due to the explosion. Minor physics detail I guess. Since the architect can bend physics it does kinda negate any physical abnormalities in the movie.
The money question is what happens at the end of the movie. Was he still in a dream?
While Cobb’s totem does seem to spin forever, it did look like the spin started to get unstable just before the scene cut out, suggesting that he was back in reality.
There were other observations that support this theory from the top post in Yahoo Answers.
I think it was kind of a let down. It would’ve been cool if he really was in a dream and it would have set the stage for an Inception sequel.
Review is late but I’m glad I finally got to see this summer’s big blockbuster!
