Congratulations Melissa and Franklin
This weekend, one of my close friends Franklin and his girlfriend of many years, Melissa, tied the knot. It was a great ceremony in a place near Kettleby. Where you ask?
Twenty four hours of drinking, 1/2 an hour of sleep the night before and riding on a limo bus meant having a great time in parts unknown.
During the day, I met Ian, Franklin’s cousin from San Diego who was so intrigued by the snowfall in Oakville. Good and bad for him I suppose as he got to see some great snowfall, but at the same time, had to endure the cold as we shot outdoors!
Ian tempted me with San Diego weather however, saying it was 21 degrees on average. Much better than shooting in the bitter cold here in Canada! Any SD newspapers hiring? :)
Photog note:
It’s hard to photograph a wedding, or any event, these days when I’m not the official photographer.
There is no point in clicking the shutter unless it’s the best picture I can make from what I see. Often times, making that picture means jumping in front of the official photog because I happen to have a wide lens and he has a zoom and I need to get a lot closer.
In this case, I wanted to help preserve the memories of friend’s wedding so at the dinner reception and avoid jumping in front of the official photographers and videographers. I put the SLR away and used just the S90 point and shoot knowing I had to sacrifice some photo opportunities. So I shot wide for my f/2.0 in the dark and for some shots, knowing I had to crop in to get what I wanted.
