Happy Canada Day 2011
Happy Canada Day! The Celebration Square at Mississauga Civic Centre opened just in time to celebrate this nation’s birthday.
Before the spectacular display of light, Shawn Desmond entertained a crowd that packed the entire Celebration Square.
I was hoping to wade in the little wading pool, but they had drained it for the evening’s event.
The sound system was also questionable as the speakers in the back didn’t seem to work.
I ran into a charming elderly couple I had shot a few years ago dancing in front of the stage at the old Civic Square and they too found the sound didn’t carry well enough to the rear of the square.
The fireworks however, went off largely without a hitch. I remember a couple of years ago where we did the countdown twice before we had any pyrotechnics light the sky. There were still a few rockets that didn’t burst through the air however as technicians released the few that were stuck after the crowd had dispersed.
Four Canadian things I did in the past year
There have been other Canadian things I did in the past 11 months since I got back from Asia, but some of them were classified as ‘work’ and ended up on another blog. I have since moved all blogging to this site.
Have a great long weekend!

While not the best light show, I liked the lighting on this one. Gives an eerie "waiting for aliens to arrive" feel.

Hanging out with Henry, Tina and Michelle after the fireworks display at Celebration Square and Mississauga Civic Centre.
