*UPDATE 2011.09.12 0235h* Updated to 3.2! It works.

According to the Acer Malaysia Facebook page, the Honeycomb 3.2 update is delayed once again.

The device really was one of the better ones, but now I’m kinda regretting it if they can’t get updates out in time.

One of the draws for me for the Iconia A500 was that the flavour of Honeycomb used was “pretty stock” and so I thought that would translate into a quicker update cycle. I was wrong!

On one hand I would love to have a ROM that is bug free and am waiting rather patiently for this.

On the other, when other devices have Honeycomb 3.2 and Acer is already behind on the initial August 25th deadline for the update, it really doesn’t look good for them.

Let’s hope they find the solution to their bug soon! Having these update issues is a lose-lose for both Acer and the Android system.

As much as I love and promote Android, I can’t help but feel frustrated when my Android device, regardless of the manufacturer, is unable to update.

Yes, Acer already has a tablet running Win 7, but the battery life is a half life compared to other tablets.  That is not a winning feature.  Win 8 is being designed with a portable UI with an objective to require less power.

I enjoy my Acer A500 tablet as tablets go.  Overall, I am pretty satisfied and the Acer Iconia was a bargain with good features.  I think it is quite possible that the new Windows 8 Mobile will resolve many concerns in the portable device marketplace.  Makes sense to be able to use my day-to-day software in a portable way.  I am sure if they are successful, Acer will come out with tablets running Win 8…assumes Windows new OS can operate without consuming the battery so quickly.

I hear you. It would be good for the business world to be able to run the whole Microsoft Office on a Win 8 tablet along with other software easily ported to the platform.

I think if there is a failing on the part of Android, it is a lack of a full featured office suite. Google Docs for all it can do online, really reeks on Android.

It would be interesting to see docs to go compared with numbers, pages and keynote for the iPad .. and later to Office for Win8.

I’m still loving mine. Its a minor update.  Who cares.  Hopefully they get their act together before the next major build.  3.1 came pretty quick, so its probably some internal issue

@1882eb2b163e8c5d856b3fe99a127da1:disqus well, waiting for software releases when people like XDA can produce releases is a little annoying. :( But I am hoping the 3.2 releases fixes the soft mic issue, and being able to connect my tablet to my computer to transfer files over. I guess there might be other ways to do the latter, but still … :)

For the latter you can use Es file explorer or File manager hd.

@90cd82698bcf990aa26e21ef0e6fd8c4:disqus  I can’t mount the Android system can I? I tried using Wifi Disk but that didn’t work very well. File Manager allows me to connect to Mac using Android … I need to make Android the server so I can easily drag files to where I want to from my Mac.

could be like Apple devices. Just have to wait until the next device release to get an update.

@2f981e3d6b553d276c99ebf48501c671:disqus I hope not. The A100 came out with 3.2, that should mean they were at least successful with that. Are the specs any different other than screen size and resolution?
